Adam Mickiewicz University was founded 1919 as the Wszechnica Piastowska and later – University of Poznan. Since 1955 has carried the name of the Polish poet Adam Mickiewicz. Now is one of the most important Universities in Poland (third place in the ranking of the journal Perspektywy). University has fifteen faculties, which are located in city centre and Morasko Campus (in the north of the city). Currently student population is nearly 40 000 students (over 1000 are international students).
